The 7 Elite Academy International Tournament will once again welcome a team from South Africa in 2027.
Under-18s players from 7 Elite Academy Cape Town will fly to Utah for the event, which takes place from February 4-7, 2027.
Over 500 teams from across the world are expected to play in the tournament, which will run at leading venues in St George and Mesquite.
In 2026, teams from the UK, USA, South Africa, New Zealand, Europe and Canada took part, with more expected next year.
The academy from South Africa made a big impression in February, when they reached the latter stages of their bracket at Shivwits Legacy Fields.
Mike Darby, General Manager of 7 Elite Academy Cape Town, said: “We had a fantastic time the USA in 2026, playing in some beautiful locations against very talented teams.
“The organisation of games and facilities is absolutely first class, with scenery that is out of this world. The welcome we received in St George was incredibly warm.
“The quality of fields is far above anything we’ve seen on previous tours, as is the officiating, with referees from all over the world.
“When we suggested returning for 2027, every single player who is eligible immediately said yes. It is a great opportunity for us all.”
The team from Houth Bay in Cape Town spent two weeks in the region earlier this year, touring local colleges and playing in other high-level tournaments.
Mike added: “Playing in the 7 Elite Academy International Tournament was a life-changing opportunity for our players, not only in football but also education.
“We were able to tour Utah Tech University in St George, which inspired us to make more key contacts with college staff and even local professional clubs.
“Those contacts are now creating new opportunities for our young people to access college education in the USA, and find exciting new pathways in life.
“We also had the chance to play in the Las Vegas Mayors Cup, which again was a way to showcase our players in front of college scouts.
“The memories our players will take from these trips will last a lifetime and will hopefully set them on new career directions.”
Nick Nield, 7 Elite Academy International Tournament Director, added: “It was fantastic to see a team from South Africa at our tournament in 2026 and I’m delighted that they’re returning in 2027.
“Every time we bring an international team to Utah, the players on all sides learn something new and that really benefits the players, both for now and in the future.
“I love seeing people from all over the world get together at our tournament to share stories, create new memories and make lasting friendships.
