Former Real Salt Lake Star and current Head Scout Luke Mulholland will be offering advice to youngsters looking for a career in professional soccer at the 7 Elite Academy International Tournament this weekend.
Luke, who made 123 appearances in Major League Soccer for Real Salt Lake, will be at the Pathways to Progress seminar in St George on Friday night (7pm to 8pm).
He will be joined by former Liverpool FC defender Stephen Warnock, Utah Tech Head of Men’s Soccer Jonny Broadhead, Premier League Academy Goalkeeping Coach Chris Owens and Steven Gerrard Academy Recruiter John Mcgrattan.
The seminar is part of the 7 Elite Academy International Tournament, which takes place over three sites this weekend and includes over 400 teams worldwide. Luke will also be present for Saturday’s Finals in Little Valley.
The former Tampa Bay Rowdies midfielder said: “I am really looking forward to meeting players this weekend and sharing with them some lessons I learned on my journey to playing professional soccer.
“Hopefully, I can pass on the experience from my career and give players a head-start in what is a difficult but ultimately rewarding journey. This a great opportunity for youngsters to take the next step.”
The Pathways to Progress event is at Sunrise Ridge Intermediate in St George on Friday, February 2 (7pm to 8pm) and will include a panel discussion about careers in soccer, alongside a question and answer session.
Tickets are FREE for the event, but bookings must be made here to secure a place.
Luke will also be present at Little Valley Fields during Saturday’s play at the tournament, where he will be watching all the finals and handing out awards.
He added: “The standard of youth soccer in Utah is extremely high and with the teams that have travelled from across Europe and the United States, this is a truly international event.
“The 7 Elite Academy Tournament has a reputation for attracting the very best players to Southern Utah and Nevada with extremely competitive soccer, so this will be a Finals Day to remember.
“Im my current role at Real Salt Lake, I’m always keen to see what the quality of soccer is like at this age group. I will be keeping a note of the players who impress me. From there, it is up to the players themselves to keep working hard.”
