Pathways to Progress panel discussion saw legends from all corners of the game sharing their insights with audience members.

It was the first event of its kind at the 7 Elite International Tournament, which saw players, parents and coaches gaining unprecedented insight into what it takes to progress in the world of soccer.

Panellists included Jonny Broadhead, Head Men’s Coach at Utah Tech, Stephen Warnock former LFC and England International, Luke Mulholland Former MLS player and Head Scout at Real Salt Lake, John McGrattan Recruiter at Steven Gerrard Academy UK and Chris Owens, Premier League Goalkeeping Coach.

Stephen Warnock said “I was not the most technically gifted player as a youngster, but I was willing to work harder than anyone else. I was prepared to sacrifice going out with my friends and staying up late drinking to make sure I was on form – something other youngsters were not prepared to do. ”

Mulholland said “It’s important that as early as you can you make connections with people and put yourself out there as much as possible. The opportunity of going to college to play soccer came from someone who I knew who knew a coach at the college – that person vouched for me because of the relationship I had with them.”

The discussion was hosted by 7 Elite Academy Head of Marketing, Kelly Forshaw. After the panellists shared many inspiring stories and insights into their career pathways – the questions then came from the audience. This unique opportunity allowed audience members to hear their questions answered directly from the panel.

The 7 Elite International Tournament 2024 hit record-breaking numbers with more out of state and International teams attending than ever before.
